Belmont is about twenty minutes from me down the eastern side of the lake. It is slightly further than most of my area, so it is worth ringing a little further ahead, but there is still no call-out fee and no travel charge.

Where most of my Belmont work sits

Belmont and the suburbs around it have a large retired population, and the majority of what I do here reflects that. Video calls with family who have moved away. Photographs that need rescuing off a phone. An iPad that was a lovely gift and has never quite been explained. Text sizes and contrast settings that make everything readable again, which almost nobody is ever shown.

I would rather have ten phone calls about messages that turn out to be perfectly genuine than one from somebody who waited three weeks because they felt foolish.

Scams are built by professionals and tested on enormous numbers of people. They are designed specifically to catch careful, intelligent adults at a distracted moment, and being caught by one says nothing whatsoever about you. What does cause real damage is the silence afterwards, because the first hour is when something can usually still be done.

You will not be lectured, and you will not be made to feel foolish. We work out what actually happened, secure whatever needs securing, and decide together what should be reported. If it turns out to be nothing at all, that is a good result, not a wasted call.
