Computer and IT tutoring in Boolaroo

A small suburb changing quickly, with new housing sitting alongside long-established streets, and the computer questions differ noticeably between the two.

Around eight minutes from Warners Bay, so bookings here are usually easy to arrange.

Boolaroo is about eight minutes from Warners Bay, so visits here are straightforward and I can usually offer a time within the week.

Two different sets of questions

Boolaroo is an interesting one, because it has changed a good deal in recent years. There is new housing alongside streets where families have lived for decades, and the two produce noticeably different requests.

In the newer homes it is usually the connected-house problems: getting Wi-Fi to cover a larger floor plan properly, a television and a sound system that will not co-operate, smart devices that worked during setup and have since stopped, and an internet connection that is fine at one end of the house and useless at the other.

In the established homes it is more often a long-serving computer that has become slow, a printer that has fallen out with the laptop, and photographs that need rescuing before anything happens to the machine they live on.

I am happy with either. They are both just somebody sitting down and looking at it properly.

Wi-Fi that reaches the whole house

Since it comes up so often here, it is worth saying: poor Wi-Fi at the back of the house is rarely fixed by buying a more expensive router. It is usually about where the equipment sits, what channel it is using, and whether the signal has to pass through the wrong wall.

Sometimes the answer genuinely is more hardware, and if so I will say which and why. Often it is a free change that takes ten minutes. Either way, ask before you spend anything.

Everyone is welcome

Kids, teenagers, working adults, business owners and retirees. If you have a computer, a tablet or a phone that is not doing what you want, ring and describe it in whatever words come naturally. The free guides are worth a look in the meantime, and they cost nothing.
